J. Katz & Partners is partnering with our client on their search for a Restructuring/ Knowledge Management Attorney

Position Summary

The Restructuring/ Knowledge Management Attorney will primarily work with the group’s practice resource attorney to assist with the training, business development, and knowledge management needs of the Restructuring practice.

 

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

·      Gather, organize, and maintain a precedents database for all Restructuring deals and cases, memoranda, client communications, and model forms

·      Develop and maintain the group’s intranet resources and model forms and assist with precedent research requests as needed

·      Compile and create internal and external training materials, client-facing presentations, and other documentation

 

Knowledge Sharing: Model Forms and Precedents

·      Gather, organize, and maintain a precedents database for all Restructuring deals and model forms (and accompanying notes and memoranda) via the group’s intranet

·      Monitor new deals and closed transactions and work with Restructuring attorneys to ensure appropriate deal data is captured and formatted

·      Independently create and work with group members to create and capture practice-related knowledge content and to help develop tools and technologies to standardize and enhance work processes

·      Provide training and support to group members on how to access knowledge resources in the precedents database, on the intranet, and elsewhere

 

Lawyer Training Support

·      Work with the group’s practice resource attorney and Professional Development Manager to help organize, design, and deliver group training programs, including seminars, workshops, and offsite training, as well as cross-group and summer associate training programs

·      Analyze feedback from training programs to help develop and improve training initiatives

·      Act as the main point of contact for coordinating internal and client-facing CLE program procedures for the group

·      Maintain Restructuring CLE-related and other training resources on the intranet and elsewhere, and provide support to and train group members on how to access them

 

Client and Business Development Support

·      Coordinate with the Business Development team and Restructuring attorneys to help prepare and regularly maintain deal lists, and case studies and organize relevant department experience to use for business development and knowledge management purposes

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications / Position Requirements

·      Strong substantive legal skills

·      Well-developed organizational and written and verbal communication skills

·      Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines

·      Must be punctual and reliable

·      Aptitude for, and interest in, technology

·      Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other applications as needed

·      Familiarity with content management systems and/or project management systems, such as Sharepoint, is a plus

·      Effective interpersonal skills

·      Must be able to work collaboratively with lawyers and staff, demonstrating strong teamwork and a positive attitude

·      Responsive to inquiries; strong independent problem-solving skills

·      Ability to proofread material for typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors

·      Ensure strict confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client's documentation and information

 

Education and/or Experience

·      J.D. with a strong academic record is required

·      At least 2 years of experience as a restructuring attorney is required

·      1-2 years of comparable experience is a plus
